University Theater (UT) builds on a strong tradition that began in 1898 and continues today under one unified organization. The symbiosis of practical and theoretical coursework with student-driven productions has created a thriving program that is unique to the University of Chicago. The program is designed to allow students to engage in all facets of the theatrical process.

Currently University Theater productions involve approximately 500 students, including actors, designers, directors, and production staffs with a yearly audience approaching 6,500.

The B.A. Project

University of Chicago's Theater and Performance Studies Department with University Theater proudly showcases the final B.A. performances of recent graduates Griffin Sharps, Lila Newman, and Kit Novotny. The B.A. performance is the culmination of an undergraduate program combining aesthetic theory and practice encompassing both performance of original work and analysis.
