Pericles
By William Shakespeare
FXK Theater | Week 7
Pericles is a show about a journey to find yourself. Our main character, Pericles, starts the play with no understanding of what he wants in life, so takes off on a journey to experience the world. He is tossed and turned at the whims of fate until he finds everything he wants in life, but this happiness is short-lived, as due to a rough storm he loses his wife and daughter, or so he thinks. The second half of the play follows Marina, his daughter, as she tries to find her way back home, and back to a family she never got to know.
Performances will take place:
Thursday, Feb 19th at 7:30pm
Friday, Feb 20th at 7:30pm
Saturday, Feb 21th at 2:00pm and 7:30pm

Alex Flores (Pericles) is a fourth year Molecular Engineering major. He has previously appeared in The Arsonists (Policeman/Dr. of Philosophy), The Tempest (Alonso), and As Y’all Like It (Le Beau/Jaques). Alex cannot remember the worst he has been on, but his parents still bring up the five hour long flight to Venezuela where his infant self cried/screamed until the plane landed.
Kaitlyn Kenney (Marina)
Lavanya Gupta (Gower) is a second-year Physical Chemistry major. She has previously worked on We’re Live! (Minny) and a lesbian wedding (Theatre 24). Her worst travel experience was when she was stranded at the Frankfurt airport for 27 hours while flying to chicago - with no carry on. Just her headphones and four balls of wool and no knitting needles because they’re apparently a security hazard.
Aiden Wetterhan (Cleon, Helicanus, & Antiochus)
Fimi Adesemoye (Dionyza, Thaisa, & Daughter) is a third-year Psychology and Business Economics major. Within UT, she has previously read for a Staged Reading and performed in Richard III (Elizabeth). She’s also worked on shows such as Annie, Rebel without A Cause, and Midsummer Night’s Dream as both Cast and Crew. She’s back from an almost 2-year acting hiatus (yay!) and very excited to be working on another Dean’s Men production. Topping her relatively small list of bad travel experiences would be the 5 day “road trip” her family went on when moving from North Platte, Nebraska to Vancouver, British Columbia. Can you imagine being stuck in the middle row of a Honda Pilot as a 13-year-old with a 10-year brother and a 4-year-old sister?
Himanshu Sahore (Simonides, Lychorida, & Lysimachus) is a second-year History major. He’s previously performed for UT in Our Town (Sam Craig), and this is his first Dean’s Men show. He would like to thank the cast and crew for making the process of putting the show together so fun and rewarding. His worst travel story is having to do a full-day guided tour of Madrid on two hours of plane sleep.
Joshua Federman (Fisherman, Knight, Pirate, & Pander) is a second year Math major and Chinese minor. He was previously seen with UT in We’re Live (Ky). His worst travel experience was when a Canadian snowstorm made seven total hours of travel into some 22.
Christine Hignite (Fisherman, Knight, Pirate, & Bawd) is a first-year (undecided but potentially) English and TAPS major. This is her first UT/Dean’s Men show and she is so grateful to have met everyone in the cast and crew and to have been part of this process! She has been acting for most of her life, but her other hobbies include writing, singing, watching bad movies, and doing improv with Occam’s Razor. Her worst travel experience is that on the underwater train from Paris to London, she was served a delicious tart topped with a round greenish fruit that she cannot identify to this day. It haunts her.
Carrie Semmel (Fisherman, Knight, Pirate, & Bolt)
Production Staff
Josiah Rubio (Director) does not know much, and has never known anything. Their past productions include acting (Richard III, A Midsummer Night’s Dream), learning design positions (Red Rex, Our Town) and directing (The Tempest). Their worst travel story involves a tendency to get car sick, a family who did not know that was a fact, and 4 straight hours of mountainous terrain. Lastly, they cannot express how grateful they are for every single person on this production. They have loved every production meeting filled with yapping instead of work, every scene stopped by fits of laughter, and every second of work people have put into helping their vision take stage.
Aneth Rodriguez (Production Manager) is a fourth-year Public Policy and Psychology double-major. In UT, she has worked in Our Town (Scenic/Props Designer), Cactus Flower (Scenic Designer), The Play That Goes Wrong (Co-Scenic Designer), Much Ado About Nothing (Asst. Stage Manager), Dead Fun Society (Asst. Director), and Macbeth in Space (Asst. Scenic Designer). Her worst travel story is being in Versailles during a rain storm with a white dress on…
Maddie Mathes (Stage Manager) is a fourth year Creative Writing and Gender and Sexuality major. In UT she has worked on The Tempest (Assistant Stage Manager) and We’re Live (Stage Manager).
Linden Martin (Scenic Designer) is a second-year linguistics and German major. Their previous credits include Red Rex (Stage Manager), Happy Birthday Mars Rover (Assistant Technical Director), The Tempest (Stage Manager), and Arcadia (Assistant Stage Manager). Outside of the theater, you can find them on the rugby field. Their worst travel story involves being detained by the German Federal Police!
Elisa Gao (Costume Designer) is a third-year Astrophysics and TAPS major. Her costume credits include Giselle (UBallet), As Y’all Like It, Coppélia (UBallet), 35mm: A Musical Exhibition, Sylvia (UBallet), Royal Flush, and Falsettos (Asst.). Her scenic credits include Red Rex (happening Week 8!), The Tempest, Troilus and Cressida (Asst.), and Royal Flush. She performed in the TAPS Pro-Show On the Back of Before and Happy Birthday Mars Rover, and is a dancer, stager, and Creative Director of UBallet. Her first Dean’s Men credit was acting in Richard III, and she’s thrilled to have now worked on five Dean’s Men productions. Her worst travel story might be when her flight to Boston couldn’t land due to a thunderstorm and was diverted to Montreal, completely changing her plans for the following days. However, she still had a wonderful time revisiting the city after nine years and enjoyed some excellent maple ice cream.
Yufei Chen (Props Designer) is an AB/AM student studying CEGU and Social Work. Yufei has previously worked on The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Props Designer), The Arsonists (Props Designer), Strings Attached (PM), Dead Fun Society (PM), Macbeth in Space (Co-SM), Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood (ASM), Laika’s Coffin (ASM), and Twelfth Night (ALD).
Lydia Gafford (Lighting Designer) is a third year History and Art History double major. Her UChicago credits include El Cepillo de Dientes (lighting designer), The Burden of Burial Sophocles’ Antigone Reimagined (lighting designer), Our Town (lighting designer), the LVV Spring Showcase (lighting designer), 35mm (lighting designer), If/Then (lighting assistant), Maya Dance Winter Showcase 2025 (lighting programmer), Royal Flush (lighting designer), Oedipus (lightboard operator), and Maya Dance Winter Showcase 2024 (lighting designer). She is a lighting technician for the Logan Center and a researcher for the Craft Chronicle. Her worst travel story involves camping in a desert during a heat wave in Morocco.
Brooklyn Myers (Sound Designer) is a 3rd year Biology and History of Medicine major. She started with college theatre last quarter for the workshop “We’re Live”. She ASMed for several shows in high school, and she is very excited to be back in such a wonderful and creative community! She studied abroad in France this past summer and decided to go on a solo trip through the Loire Valley. Her train from the second town to the third was labeled wrong, so she was a bit stranded. She booked several incorrect bus tickets, but succeeded in getting to the correct bus stop, which was a small grassy section on the side of the road that was full of trash, including a headless doll. A group of teenage boys in a car barked at her. Her bus was 45 minutes late, and she cried a lot.
Anna Cho (Assistant Director) is a first-year humanities major. She is super excited for her first ever directing role and hopes to direct many more shows in the future! She has previously worked on Our Town (Sound Designer) and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Assistant Sound Designer). She works in the TAPS prop shop as student staff, and in her free time, she enjoys cozy gaming. She would like to thank Josiah for all the directing guidance! Her worst travel story has to be the time she was delayed a cumulative 24 hours flying out of JFK and then got into a car crash on the way to her destination after she landed.
Asteria Mao (Assistant Production Manager)
Lena Wei (Assistant Stage Manager) is a first-year CS and TAPS major. She has previously worked on As Y’all Like it (Assistant Stage Manager). She is very excited and grateful to work with everyone (UT people are so nice), and she’d like to thank her director for reminding her to write a bio. Her worst travel story is when she puked by the beach in Sanya.
Charlie Carden (Assistant Stage Manager) is a first-year Psychology and TAPS major. This is their third UT show. They were involved with Our Town(Assistant Stage Manager) and The Burden of Burial (Scenic and Props Designer). Outside of UT, their theater experience includes Mamma Mia (Stage Manager), Our Place (Stage Manager), Legally Blonde (Assistant Stage Manager), Keepers at the Edge of the Sea (Director), and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (Stage Manager). Their worst travel story is getting lost in Venice as a nine-year-old with no way to contact family.
Natalie Williams (Assistant Costume Designer)
Emma Beane (Assistant Costume Designer)
Eileen Zhan (Assistant Props Designer)
Soph Franklin (Assistant Lighting Designer)
Will Rehmus (Committee Liaison)
